Our Primary and Secondary Team is led by Sales Manager, Matthew Walkley.
The team support schools across the primary and secondary sector across West, South and North Yorkshire. They work hard to support our school's with short-term and long-term education recruitment solutions.
Matthew is the Sales Manager here at Academic Appointments, looking after Leeds and North Yorkshire secondary schools. His role is to make sure the sales team are happy, motivated and efficient, and that his clients receive the best possible experience. He particularly loves making long-term placements for candidates and establishing long-term relationships with schools. He considers himself his schools 4th emergency service!
Prior to working for Academic Appointments, Matthew worked in Education and Accountancy recruitment for a large multi-national agency. He loves the way Academic Appointments blends 'Big Company' standards with a personal and local response.
Outside of work Matthew can be found shaking cocktails and enjoying the company of his daughter, Eleanor and son, Jackson.
Before joining Academic Appointments Scott spent 5 years in the British Army where he served operational tours in Iraq & Northern Ireland. He then was a Crown Court Custody Officer for 8 years. Now Scott looks after our Bradford Secondary School, and is located at our Bradford Branch..
In Scott's spare time he enjoys playing football, in which he supports Leeds United and spending time with his Wife, Gemma and his two beautiful children, Max and Lola!
Julia has worked for Academic Appointments since 2006. She is an integral and well-loved member of the team.
As well as managing some of our long-standing key accounts, Julia is also our Quality Manager. This involves appraising our service levels for candidates and clients ensuring these are of a consistently high level.
Admittedly, Julia is Academic Appointments ‘go to’ person, she always has the answers! Not only is she a specialist when it comes to finance but an advocator of quality customer service, evidenced by her long-standing relationships with her schools and professionals.
Julia is married to Phil and they have 3 grown-up children at varying University stages, and she is quite enjoying an empty washing basket! Recently Julia joined her local Choir & sometimes practices out loud in the office (Oh dear!).
Emma joined Academic Appointments in September 2016 and is our Secondary Coordinator. Having worked in recruitment for over 5 years' she is exceptionally experienced to look after our schools and specialists.
In the office, there's a running joke that if it weren't for Emma keeping our secondary 'boys' in shape, who knows what would happen.
At home, Emma is kept very busy with two of her own boys Ethan and Austin.
Liz (as she is known in the office) began her working career as an Area Coordinator for a primary sports coaching organisation providing schools with extra-curricular coaching and curriculum teaching from 2008-2015. Liz then moved into recruitment in the summer of 2015 and joined the Academic Appointments Primary Team in January 2017.
In her spare time, Liz enjoys keeping fit through playing football and going for hikes.
Prior to joining Academic Appointments as the Business Manager for the Doncaster Office in April 2017, Clare progressed as a Primary Specialist supporting schools and education professionals across North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire and Doncaster over a period of 6 years working with a global recruiter.
Through offering a consultative approach and using open and honest communication she builds trust with schools and teachers alike. Clare always take the time to listen and understand individual requirements to make sure the match is absolutely right.
Working closely with the Senior Management Team, Clare is highly focussed on building a successful branch in Doncaster area and expanding her team.
Outside the Academic Appointments world, Clare likes to take long walks with her fiancé and dog and enjoys short breaks in the Lake District as well as overseas. Of all the places she has visited Kenya is her favourite.
Aaron joined Academic Appointments as our South Yorkshire Secondary Consultant.
Before joining Academic Appointments Aaron worked as a Branch Contract Manager in the Industrial sector, and prior to this, he spent 3 years as a Contract Manager in the transport sector.
Before working in recruitment Aaron spent 8 years as a Local Government Finance Officer.
In his spare time, he enjoys running and taking his daughter swimming and son football training. Busy dad!
Alex joined the South Yorkshire Team in 2018. Working alongside Clare and Aaron, Alex concentrates on supporting our Barnsley, Rotherham and Wakefield primary schools.
Before joining the team, Alex worked for another Education Recruitment Agency in Hull, he assures us he loves working here more, especially the commute!
In his spare time, Alex is an avid bodybuilder fanatic. When he isn't busy working at Academic Appointments you will either see him lifting heavy things or eating tupperware boxes full of chicken and rice!
Alex enjoys being part of the Academic Appointments family and working within education.
Charlotte has recently joined Academic Appointments as our Business Manager for Secondary candidates and schools. Having worked in education recruitment for 10 years' she is exceptionally experienced in the sector.
Before working in education recruitment Charlotte studied English and History at Leeds Beckett University, where she then travelled to Thailand to teach English at Harrow International School in Bangkok. When she returned she trained as an English Teacher and worked on a supply basis.
In her spare time, she is a mummy to William (aka Willybob) and is currently studying towards a professional qualification CIPD Level 7 Diploma, and also plays for Hockey Leeds Club.
