Our Candidate and Compliance Team is Karen, Lucie and Lisa. It is their job to ensure that you are always fully compliant for work. The team works closely alongside our Leeds, Bradford and Doncaster branches to recruit, interview and clear candidates for our partner schools.
Karen’s role at Academic Appointments is Head of Recruitment & Safeguarding. What Karen particularly loves about her role is the variety and fast pace. Every day is different and you never know who you will have the pleasure of meeting or talking to next. Meeting our amazing candidates both here in the office and off-site is genuinely a blessing. Karen feels a real sense of achievement when a candidate is out working for us and enjoying their job. Karen is also our Safeguarding Lead and a qualified Team Teach Tutor.
Karen is a qualified Primary Teacher with almost twenty years’ experience. She has taught in a range of schools as a Teacher, Key Stage Leader, Assistant and Deputy Head and even as a Headteacher. This experience makes her extremely knowledgeable and empathetic to the wants and needs of our primary staff and settings.
At home Karen’s two grown-up children and kitten keep her busy and entertained – there is never a quiet moment! When the children are out and about, and the weather permits, Karen loves to be out in her garden.
Emma joined Academic Appointments in September 2016 and is our Secondary Coordinator. Having worked in recruitment for over 5 years' she is exceptionally experienced to look after our schools and specialists.
In the office, there's a running joke that if it weren't for Emma keeping our secondary 'boys' in shape, who knows what would happen.
At home, Emma is kept very busy with two of her own boys Ethan and Austin.
With 12 years of teaching experience as a former Secondary PE Teacher and Head of Department, Lisa is the ideal person to support our secondary candidates.
Lisa also manages our Tuition alongside Kerry by working in partnership with councils, schools, academies and education providers across Yorkshire to deliver hours of tuition to children in need of that little extra support. Her education background helps her understand the stresses of teaching.
In her spare time, she can be found tearing up and down a court several times a week, as Centre for her Netball Team. She also loves reading a good thriller and photography.
